Intro to Website
When we did all of our research for this website we all noticed the same thing. That the same few anti-gay groups kept popping up over and over.
"Focus on the Family"-James Dobson, "Narth"-Joseph Nicolosi and Paul Cameron, "Family Research Council"-Tony Perkins and James Dobson, "Traditional Values Coalition"-Lou Sheldon, "Concerned Women of America" and "Cultural Family Institute"- Robert Knight, "Vision America"- Rick Scarborough, "American Family Association"-Donald E. Wildmon, "Americans for Truth"- Peter Labarbera.
Of course, when Yabba "Dubya" Dooooo was elected the old school gay-bashers Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell came flying out of retirement for some more hell raising on the homos. All this anti-gay barking is coming from less than 15 groups. They all work together to perpetuate the myths and lies surrounding homosexuality. When we see one group mentioned in an article there is almost always one of the others there.
They seem to be very close friends. What we noticed was that they are all obsessed with denying gay Americans equal rights. They are very politically involved and put as much pressure as they possibly can on politicians to vote for discrimination for gays. If gay Americans make any gains whatsoever with protections such as hate crimes inclusion, work place equality, adoption rights, relationship recognition, they go ballistic. For some reason, they take it personally if gays are treated as equals. It is a strange phenomenon but one that we can no longer ignore.
What we started to realize was that they are far to organized to be doing this just because they don't like gays. They have so much money and are so politically tied that it didn't take long to realize these groups must have been specifically developed for the sole purpose of influencing the way people vote. Most Americans don't have time to do the research involved with staying informed with politics. Many Americans, quite frankly, don't care. They would much rather have a trusted source tell them how to vote and spend their energy on their own family.
An example of this was when Ralph Reed talked some religious leaders into fighting against gambling. Reed said that the town already had one casino and two would lead to three and it would turn into to Vegas. After Ralph's demands, the pastors fought it and only one casino could come in. (Hello monopoly...) All because that nice, clean cut, up and coming Christian good boy, Ralph Reed said he didn't think it would be good "Family Values" to have to much gambling.
Well things aren't quite always what they seem. Here is Jack Abramoff's partner quoted in Rolling Stone 4/06 about what that good little boy, Ralph Reed, said to Jack about the Christian Right:
"I will get the pastors all riled up." "We want to bring out the "wackos" to vote against something". "The "wackos" get their information through the Christian right, Christian radio, mail, the Internet, and telephone trees."
"Wackos"? These Evangelical Christians have been a thorn in the gay side since the beginning of time and even we give them more respect than to call them "Wackos."
This is such a powerful quote because it shows how these God fearing, trusting, fundamental Christians can be completely manipulated into voting how you want them to. If you are trusted by them, if you put on a great act in front of them, then you give them an enemy to fear, they will be putty in your hands. Ralph Reed was the next James Dobson in the Christian circles. He put on one face for them but then the truth comes out that he was just using the "wackos" to get some CASH. Abramoff paid him BIG to get the Evangelicals to vote against a competing casino. Without competition you make a lot more money. It's called a monopoly and there are laws against it. Unless of course you can get the "wackos" to vote for it......
Reed convinced dozens of influential pastors, along with some of the biggest national names on the Evangelical right ? James Dobson, Phyllis Schlafly, Gary Bauer, Donald Wildmon, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson to "mobilize their flocks" in a series of successful anti-casino campaigns. The front groups Reed established, with upright names like Citizens Against Legalized Gambling, organized religious rallies, sent out mass mailings decrying the evils of wagering and flooded legislators and state officials with thousands of calls from concerned Christians. (little do they know they are being used....)
Georgia's former GOP House minority leader Bob Irvin blasted Reed in an Atlanta Journal-Constitution op-ed. "His M.O. is to tell Evangelical Christians that his cause of the moment, for which he has been hired, is their religious duty," Irvin fumed. "As an Evangelical myself, I resent Christianity being used simply to help Reed's business."
It worked for casinos....Why not use the gays?
This "play as dirty as you can" Rovian GOP has figured out a way to capitalize on this idea and what better way than to demonize the gays? They are the most misunderstood minority surrounded with wildly wrong perceptions and rampant lies. Most people don't have a lot of gay friends so they don't have a lot to compare what they are told with. Most people look at the world from the narrow blinders of only their point of view. Because homosexuality is "unnatural" to them it must be "unnatural" to everyone else.
Homosexuals hide so no one really knows how many people really are gay. Then of course we have those wonderful passages in the Bible. So this would be a slam dunk.
After 911, the GOP had a choice. To do the right thing and try to unite the country after the most terrible event in our nation's history or go with the sure thing and divide the country ensuring political success. Well, we all know which route they chose, but we aren't so sure that Americans know how deliberate the scheming went. They purposely used gay Americans as political pawns with not a care in the world to the aftermath it would cause for gays. A lot of people in government are prejudiced and hold such wrong beliefs surrounding gays that they probably did not even have trouble falling asleep at night.
What we theorize is that Karl Rove, (George "W" Bush's political strategist), worked closely with James Dobson, to purposely send lies and terrible messages about gays, in order to create an enemy within the country for people to vote against. We put our names on a few Evangelical mailing lists and were stunned and horrified with the lies and deceit about gays that we would receive.
We couldn't believe it was even legal being such blatant defamation of character that was completely false. They get away with it because they defame a nameless, faceless group that in some ways is completely invisible. We are the only minority that has no distinguishing characteristics. We are as different and varied as heterosexuals. Imagine trying to group all left handed people together as a minority to discriminate against. That is exactly what is happening to gays. You can be sure that all of a sudden there would be negative stereotypes about left handed people before you could go commit a hate crime. Actually, only one generation ago, the nuns would physically hurt the left handed children to make them right handed. Sound familiar? Witches in the 1600s much?
What drives the pro-Discrimination folks nuts though is that gays can hide. If gays were easily recognizable, hate crimes would soar. We are the only minority that can actually be turned away by our own family because of who we are. Sometimes we form our own families. We take care of each other, we find partners, despite all odds against us we try to live the American dream. We encounter some challenges that the straight world will never face, but it makes us stronger and the experiences that we have, makes it all worth while.
It is too bad that we could not all get along and learn from our differences. We would probably all be a lot happier. Change is slow but it is inevitable that the truth will prevail and these wild accusations will all be proven wrong. This website will be a starting point and every word that is written is the truth. Links will be given for all information provided and remember if you think something on this site is not true. "Google" is your friend. "Google" any facts given by us and you will find the truth.
So let's begin with the Pro-Discrimination, anti-gay, hate groups that hide behind the terms "Family Values".
To sound credible and not like the "hate groups" that they are, they always use the term "family" in their names. Focus on the "Family", American "Family" Association, "Family" Research Council, Campaign for Children and "Families". What better way to gain someone's trust than speak to the most primal instinct of protecting the "family"? They also might put "values" in their name because then it appears that they are the only ones in the country with "morals" and "values": Traditional "Values" Coalition.
Then it all fits together so nice and easy when it is time to vote. All you have to remember is "family values." Who has time to pay attention to corruption, lies, dismantling of our countries foundation, an illegal war, poverty, crime, the economy, discrimination, and little rich egotistical brats running the country into the ground?
Why worry about all that when all we have to do is remember who has "family values"? The GOP was definitely slick with this one we'll give them that. They have found a way to get a huge segment of the population to vote for them and they don't even have to explain there position on the issues. The problem is however, that for it to work, they had make it appear that the opposing party is "anti-family". Now we would assume that people would be smart enough to know that Democrats love their families just as much as Republicans butKarl Rove worked very hard in painting those gay-loving liberals as anti-family, pro-abortion, pro-tax hippie crazies that will ruin America. The sad fact is that people fell for it. Red state America actually believes all this crap. The icing on the cake was that "the militant homosexual activists had at the center piece of their master plan the utter destruction of the family." (James Dobson sent that letter to 2.5 million homes)
Could someone please name one militant homosexual activist? It conjures up an image of someone in fatigues with a Nazi cross, and a pink triangle tattooed on their shaved head. The biggest thing gays have defending them is the Human Rights Campaign which is comprised of some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Their homosexual agenda? To educate legislators that there is a real need to protect gay Americans from prejudice and hate that can result in gays being legally fired from their jobs for the sole reason of who they are.
Legally gays can be evicted or turned away from housing just because they are gay. Gay monogamous committed couples that have shared there life for 50 years have to make all sorts of special arrangements legally so that when one of them dies, cousin Tom that lives 3000 miles away can not come in sit on the couch and say to the remaining spouse, "when can you be out by?" The injustices run deep. There are over 1000 laws involved and it is all justified by misinformation, and prejudice. The real "homosexual agenda" is educating people on the injustice of this.
How did this website start? It started because there was a gay American who new nothing about activism or politics. This woman is a health care professional with a Masters Degree. Captain of her college field hockey team. All star. Never hurt a soul. Her job is to help people get rid of their pain. She starts to notice all the anti-gay bru ha going on politically and she doesn't like it. She believes that you keep your friends close and your enemies closer so she starts to educate herself on these anti-gay groups. She puts herself on the mailing list of "focus on the family". One day she comes home from work and there is a letter to her from "focus on the family". After reading it her jaw literally drops. It was so full of complete lies that will continue the cycle of hate. This woman decided to take a stand. She spent 2 years researching everything anti-gay. She has spent every waking hour for the past 3 years devoted to this website.
She formed this organization to battle the lies one by one from that letter. It was no easy task and the work is far from done. This organization hopes to grow with representatives in every state. We want to be a national watchdog group on these anti-gay groups and also all the pro-discrimination politicians at every level of government. We will record every pro-discrimination vote. We will have politicians pictures and contact info for anyone voting for discrimination of gay Americans. It will not be long until voting anti-gay, pro-discrimination will be a liability. We are at the political turning point right now.
All momentum is for equality so please politicians take notice your record will be very obvious on this site. Evolution is a excruciating slow process and for some reason the Republicans are the slowest to evolve and accept change even when change is the right thing to do. Women's rights, blacks rights, and now gay rights. The conservative caveman is always the last to accept the progression to a more evolved society. Well Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubblecan have only a few more "Yabba Dubya Doooooos" left. The party of the caveman has got to go. Either evolve and start including all Americans, yes even the gay ones, in civic laws or as you learned in November 2006, you will continue to get spanked at the polls.
In a roundabout way we can thank James Dobson for this website. Had he not been so over the top with his hate and lies surrounding gays, the founder would never have found the inspiration to work as long and as hard as she did.
Here is the letter that started it all:
(Now as you read this letter, please apply it to anyone that you know who is gay. If you don't know anyone gay please apply it to Elton John, Rosie O'Donnell, Ellen Degeneres, Melissa Etherage, Ken Melhman, those guys on queer eye..and see how insane it all sounds.)
The letter that started it all....Three years ago!!!!
April 2004
Dear Friends,
I write to you today with a profound sense of concern and apprehension for the welfare of the family, and indeed, for the future of our nation. I do not recall a time since the beginnings of Focus on the Family, 27 years ago, when the institution of marriage faced such peril, or when the forces arrayed against it were more formidable or determined. Barring a miracle, the family as it has been known for more than five millennia will crumble, presaging the fall of Western civilization itself. This is a time for concerted prayer, divine wisdom and greater courage than we have ever been called upon to exercise.
For more than 40 years, the homosexual activist movement has sought to implement a master plan that has had as its centerpiece the utter destruction of the family.
The institution of marriage, along with an often weakened and impotent Church, is all that stands in the way of its achievement of every coveted aspiration. Those goals include universal acceptance of the gay lifestyle, discrediting of Scriptures that condemn homosexuality, muzzling of the clergy and Christian media, granting of special privileges and rights in the law, overturning laws prohibiting pedophilia, indoctrinating children and future generations through public education, and securing all the legal benefits of marriage for any two or more people who claim to have homosexual tendencies. These objectives that seemed unthinkable just a few years ago have largely been achieved or are now within reach. All that remains is for the movement and its friends in the media, the entertainment industry, the professions, the government and the military, to deliver the coup de grace to a beleaguered institution that was given to humanity by the Creator in the Garden of Eden. We in North America and Europe are not simply "slouching towards Gomorrah," as Judge Robert Bork warned in his best-selling book(1); we are hurtling toward it.
To cite another metaphor, the old earthen dam that has held and protected the reservoir of Judeo-Christian values and beliefs since the days of our Founding Fathers has been leaking for decades. Even the most casual observer has witnessed greater structural damage each passing year. But in recent weeks, the entire superstructure appears to have given away. What thousands of homosexuals in San Francisco have achieved represents the collapse of the rule of law, with no legal or governmental official being willing or able to stop it or provide more than a temporary stay. A revolution of striking proportions now looms before us
This is distressing for many reasons, including the historical perspective of Focus on the family. We have fought for "the preservation of the home" since I left academia in 1977. That phrase appeared at the bottom of the first printed stationery, which summarized what we were attempting to do. We've been frantically waving a red flag ever since, warning our listeners and readers that the family was in mortal danger. Aided and abetted by arrogant, unaccountable and unelected judges who are determined to implement their vision of political correctness, thousands of unlawfully "married" gays and lesbians are fanning out across the nation, preparing civil rights suits and demanding recognition by the courts. Given the outrageous decision in Lawrence v. Texas (the so-called "sodomy case") and the disturbing rationale for it written by one of the most dangerous men in America, Justice Anthony Kennedy (2), there can be little doubt that the U.S. Supreme Court will soon "find" a provision in the Constitution that guarantees homosexual marriage. If the people accept that decision passively, the issue will never be in question again. The institution of the family will have been destroyed.
Well, so what? How would sanctioning marriage between homosexuals be harmful to society? Why shouldn't the family, which they see as outmoded and irrelevant, be broadened and modernized? What harm could possibly be done by yielding to the demands of gays and lesbians? These are among the questions being frequently by the secular media, which is almost always biased in its responses. Columnist Steve Blow, for example, recently published an op-ed piece in the Dallas Morning News that addressed the question, "Gay Marriage: Why Would It Affect Me?" Blow said he had one of my recent letters on this subject and disagreed emphatically with my perspective. He wrote:
".when opponents talk about the ?defense of marriage,' they lose me. James Dobson's Focus on the Family just sent out a mailer to 2.5 million homes saying: ?The homosexual activists' movement is poised to administer a devastating and potentially fatal blow to the traditional family.' And I say,"Huh? How does anyone's pledge of love and commitment turn into a fatal blow to families?"(3)
I will try to help Mr. Blow understand our concern, although I doubt if he really wants to "get it." He seems committed to "political correctness," along with others who hide in places where logic and facts cannot penetrate. Nevertheless, I'll offer 10 powerful arguments against lumbering into this untested and unprecedented social experiment, as follows:
#1.
The implications for children in a world of decaying families are profound. A recent article in the Weekly Standard described how the advent of legally sanctioned gay unions in Scandinavian countries has already destroyed the institution of marriage, where half of today's children are born out of wedlock.(4) It is predicted now, based on demographic trends in this country, that more than half of the babies born in the 1990s will spend at least part of their childhood in single-parent homes.(5) Social scientists have been surprisingly consistent in warning against this fractured family. If it continues, almost every child will have several "moms" and "dads," perhaps six or eight "grandparents," and dozens of half-siblings. It will be a world where little boys and girls are shuffled from pillar to post in an ever-changing pattern of living arrangement--where huge numbers of them will be raised in foster-care homes or living on the street (as millions do in other countries all over the world today). Imagine an environment where nothing is stable and where people think primarily about themselves and their own self-preservation.
The apostle Paul described a similar society in Romans 1, which addressed the epidemic of homosexuality that was rampant in the ancient world and especially in Rome at that time. He wrote, "They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless" (v.29-31, NIV). It appears likely now that the demise of families will accelerate this type of decline dramatically, resulting in a chaotic culture that will be devastating to children.
#2
The introduction of legalized gay marriages will lead to inexorably to polygamy and other alternatives to one-man, one woman unions. In Utah, Polygamist Tom Green, who claims five wives, is citing Lawrence v. Texas as the legal authority for his appeal.(6) This past January, a Salt Lake City civil rights attorney filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of another couple wanting to engage in legal polygamy.(7) Their justification? Lawrence V. Texas. The ACLU of Utah has actually suggested that the state will "have to step up to prove that a polygamous relationship is detrimental to society" --as opposed to the polygamists having to prove that plural marriage is not harmful to the culture.(8) Do you see how the game is played? Despite 5,000 years of history, the burden now rests on you and me to prove that polygamy is unhealthy. The ACLU went on to say that the nuclear family "may not be necessarily the best model."(9) Indeed, Justice Antonin Scalia warned of this likelihood in his statement for the minority in the Lawrence case.(10) It took less than six months for his prediction to become reality.
Why will gay marriage set the table for polygamy? Because there is no place to stop once that rubicon has been crossed. Historically, the definition of marriage has rested on a bedrock of tradition, legal precedent, theology and the overwhelming support of the people. After the introduction of marriage between homosexuals, however, it will be supported by nothing more substantial than the opinion of a single judge or by a black-robed panel of justices. After they have done their wretched work, the family will consist of little more than someone's interpretation of "rights." Given that unstable legal climate, it is certain that some self-possessed judge, somewhere, will soon rule that three men and one woman can marry. Or five and two, or four and four. Who will be able to deny them that tight? The guarantee is implied, we will be told, by the Constitution. Those who disagree will continue to be seen as hate-mongers and bigots. (Indeed, those charges are already being leveled against those of us who espouse biblical values!) How about group marriage, or marriage between relatives, or marriage between adults and children? How about marriage between man and his donkey? Anything allegedly linked to "civil rights" will be doable. The legal underpinnings for marriage will have been destroyed.
#3
An even greater objective of the homosexual movement is to end the state's compelling interest in marital relationships altogether. After marriages have been redefined, divorces will be obtained instantly, will not involve a court, and will take on the status of a driver's license or a hunting permit. With the family out of the way, all rights and privileges of marriage will accrue to gay and lesbian partners without the legal entanglements and commitments heretofore associated with it.
#4
With the legalization of homosexual marriage, every public school in the nation will be required to teach that this perversion is the moral equivalent of traditional marriage between a man and a woman. Textbooks, even in conservative states, will have to depict man/man and woman/woman relationships, and stories written for children as young as elementary school, or even kindergarten, will have to give equal space to homosexuals.
#5
From that point forward, courts will not be able to favor a traditional family involving one man and one woman over a homosexual couple in matters of adoption. Children will be placed in homes with parents representing only one sex on equal basis with those having a mom and a dad. The prospect of fatherless and motherless children will not be considered in the evaluation of eligibility. It will be the law.
#6
Foster-care parents will be required to undergo "sensitivity training" to rid themselves of bias in favor of traditional marriage, and will have to affirm homosexuality in children and teens.
#7
How about the impact on Social Security if there are millions of new dependents that will be entitled to survivor benefits? It will amount to billions of dollars on an already over-burdened system. And how about the cost to American businesses? Unproductive costs mean fewer jobs for those who need them. Are state and municipal governments to be required to raise taxes substantially to provide health insurance and other benefits to millions of new "spouses and other dependents"?
#8
Marriage among homosexuals will spread throughout the world, just as pornography did after the Nixon Commission declared obscene material "beneficial" to mankind.11 Almost instantly, the English-speaking countries liberalized their laws against smut. America continues to be the fountainhead of filth and immorality, and its influence is global. The point is that numerous leaders in other nations are watching to see how we will handle the issue of homosexuality and marriage. Only two countries in the world have authorized gay marriage to date--Netherlands and Belgium.12 Canada is leaning in that direction, as are numerous European countries. Dr. Darrell Reid, president of Focus on the Family Canada, told me two weeks ago that this country is carefully monitoring the United States to see where it is going. If we take this step off a cliff, the family on every continent will splinter at an accelerated rate. Conversely, our U.S. Supreme Court has made it clear that it looks to European and Canadian law in the interpretation of our Constitution.13 What an outrage! That should have been grounds for impeachment, but the Congress, as usual, remained passive and silent.
#9
Perhaps most importantly, the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be severely curtailed. The family has been God's primary vehicle for evangelism since the beginning. Its most important assignment has been the propagation of the human race and the handing down of faith to our children. MalachI 2:15 reads, referring to husbands and wives," Has not the Lord made them one? In flesh and spirit they are His. And why one? Because He was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth" (NIV). That responsibility to teach the next generation will never recover from the loss of committed, God-fearing families. The younger generation and those yet to come will be deprived of the Good News, as has already occurred in France, Germany and other European countries. Instead of providing for a father and mother, the advent of homosexual marriage will create millions of motherless children and fatherless kids. This is morally wrong, and is condemned in Scripture. Are we now going to join the Netherlands and Belgium to become the third country in the story of the world to "normalize" and legalize behavior that has been prohibited by God, Himself? Heaven help us if we do!
#10
The culture war will be over, and I fear, the world may soon become "as it was in the days of Noah" (Matthew24:37, NIV). This is the climactic moment in the battle to preserve the family, and future generations hang in the balance.
This apocalyptic and pessimistic view of the institution of the family and its future will sound alarmist to many, but I think it will prove accurate unless--unless--God's people awaken and begin an even greater vigil of prayer for our nation. That's why Shirley and I are urgently seeking the Lord's favor and asking Him to hear the petitions of His people and heal our land. As of this time, however, large segments of the church appear to be unaware of the danger; its leaders are surprisingly silent about our peril (although we are tremendously thankful for the efforts of those who have spoken out on this issue). The lawless abandon occurring recently in California, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Washington and elsewhere should have shocked us out of our lethargy. So far, I'm alarmed to say, the concern of the American people have not translated into action
This reticence on behalf of Christians is deeply troubling. Marriage is a sacrament designed by God that serves as a metaphor for the relationship between Christ and His Church. Tampering with His plan for the family is immoral and wrong. To violate the Lord's expressed will for humankind, especially in regard to behavior that He prohibited, is to court disaster.
Here's the question of the hour: How can we stop the imperious courts and rogue local officials from overriding the will of the people, who continue to oppose homosexual marriage by a wide margin? There is only on answer. It is for congress and the state legislatures to pass a Federal Marriage Amendment to define this historic institution exclusively as being between one man and one woman. That is the passion of my heart at this stage of my life. Seven times in the past few months, I have joined more than 50 pro-family leaders in Washington, D.C., imploring members of Congress to protect the family while there is still time. I'm told that there is a brief window, now that the President has expressed his strong support, when a Federal Marriage Amendment might be possible. Still, the opposition to its passage is formidable.
It is terribly difficult to pass a constitutional amendment under the best of circumstances. It requires q two-thirds majority of both houses of Congress and passage by three-forths of the state legislatures. That has only occurred 27 times in our 228 year history.14 It will certainly not be easily accomplished this time. As I write, 34 senators (seven Republicans and 27 Democrats) are reportedly planning to vote against the FMA.15 Nothing short of a national outcry by the citizens of this country will secure the necessary support. We heard that repeatedly last week when we were on Capitol Hill. This is a time of destiny for our great nation.
Despite the danger that confronts us, I am hopeful that the death of the family can be averted. Most Americans still believe in the Judeo-Christian system of values, and millions of them are people of faith who are calling on the Lord for a miracle on behalf of our nation. That is the source of our confidence at such a perilous time.
As we approach the National Day of Prayer (NDP) on May 6, I am beseeching our brothers and sisters to pray in the public square for the survival of the institutions of marriage and parenthood, and to rally for the restoration of our First Amendment rights that are being stripped away, inch by inch. The theme of this year's NDP is "Let Freedom Ring," taken from Leviticus 25:10, which reads, "proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants" (NIV).
In addition to gathering on the National Day of Prayer, we are suggesting that our friends and supporters participate in what the NDP Task Force is calling "Freedom Five." The purpose is to commit five minutes a day to pray for the five centers of power. They are education, the media, the church, the family and the government (especially the judiciary). Perhaps a million people across the country will join in the effort. For information about NDP or about other prayer observances in your area of the country, please see the clickable map found at www.nationaldayofprayer.org
I will leave you with this familiar story told in 2 Chronicles 32. There we read about king Hezekiah who had served God "wholeheartedly" during his reign. However, he eventually faced a terrible crisis when Sennacherib, King of Assyria, invaded Judah with 185,000 well-armed and trained warriors. They wiped out the defenders of every city that lay in their path. Then they laid siege to Jerusalem and demanded that Hezekiah surrender or be totally destroyed.
These are the irreverent words shouted by Sennacherib to Hezekiah and his defenders who were standing on the wall:
"Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the people of the other lands?
Were the gods of those nations ever able to deliver their land from my hand? Who of all
The gods of these nations that my fathers destroyed has been able to save his people from me? How then can your god deliver you from my hand? Now do not let Hezekiah deceive you and mislead you like this. Do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to deliver his people from my hand or the hand of my
Fathers. How much less will your god deliver you from my hand!" (2 Chronicles 32:13- 15, NIV).
Hezekiah along with the prophet Isaiah did what you and I would have done under those distressing circumstances. They cried out to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for deliverance. Hezekiah also encouraged his countrymen with these inspired words: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the King Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him. With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles" (2 Chronicles 32:7-8a, NIV).
And indeed, the Lord did intervene as a result of the prayers of His people, delivering them from the hands of their enemies. That story should be of great encouragement to every believer who faces overwhelming odds at a time of great distress.
To summarize, let me say that Focus on the Family will not waver during this time of national urgency. By working with the other pro-family organizations and thousands of committed churches throughout the nation, we will strive to defend the principles that matter most. In so doing, we will likely be attacked, misquoted and maligned by the liberal media and by those whose views on marriage and sexuality are radically different from our own. We would covet your prayers during this time of intense debate. No matter what the odds, we are determined to stay the course. And may our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, bless us as we do.
Will you join me in this closing prayer?
"Heavenly Father, our great and magnificent King, we ask You to intercede on behalf of the institution of marriage and plead with You to save the family from those who would destroy it. With them is only ?an arm of flesh,' but our appeal is to the God of the universe who has never lost a battle. We do not deserve your mercy, but we kneel humbly before You today and repent of our sin and disobedience. When the history of this era is written, let it be remembered as a time when righteousness was rediscovered and when the wickedness of this day would be transformed by a nationwide spiritual renewal that would sweep through the land. For this, we and future generations will be forever grateful."
Sincerely,
James C. Dobson,
Founder and Chairman

Did we hear someone say Drama Queen?
Does this sound like it is coming from a sane man? A mentally stable man? A man that is on the president's political strategist's speed dial? Does this guy like to stir up drama or what? If he only knew the reality that most gay men can barely get it together to go out dancing and he thinks the "center piece" of their "master plan" is the "utter destruction of the family"? How would one even begin to destroy every family? Maybe if all the gay men went straight at the same time. Yeah, that would create some chaos.
All of a sudden, a massive influx of beautiful, charming, fit, smart, respectful men thrown into the heterosexual market. Now that would definitely destroy some families. Now after all our research we still don't get it. Please explain to us like we are two year olds. How is legislation that protects gay Americans from being wrongly discriminated against going to destroy any other family?
If you have a family and you love each other, nothing would be able to destroy it. Let alone people that you don't know that don't even know you exist. Does this not embarrass straight people? To suggest that your love is so weak and fragile that your family will dissolve if Donna is allowed to use her insurance to cover Cindy. That Paul can visit Tom in the hospital when they have been partners for 40 years? That legal rights given to others can ruin your marriage?
Is that not embarrassing to even suggest?
Meanwhile gays are told from day one that their love is fake and they are evil and society does not have a place for us. We are told all this and yet our love is thriving. We are begging and pleading to legally commit. Everything and the kitchen sink has been throw at gay people to stop our relationships and yet we flourish and grow. Maybe we realize that if you are truly in love than nothing can destroy it. Maybe all these anti-gays have never found true love. If it was true, then they would have love in their hearts. They would spend time with their partner enjoying each other instead of all this energy poured into hating gays.
The advocate (a gay magazine) 3/27/2007 has an open letter from a straight guy to all gays saying he is sorry for these amendments.
"In 2004, I voted for the ban on gay marriage. A lot has changed in my life since then. Mainly, I met and fell in love with a girl I met on line. I believe that in every person's life there is a person that helps change the way he or she looks at life. In my case, she is that person. Until we met I didn't know what it was like to love somebody or to be loved. Now that I know, I want to be with her for as long as possible. If I was told that I wasn't allowed to be with her, for any reason, I would be devastated. When I walked into the voting both on August 3, 2004, I wasn't thinking about that because I didn't know what love felt like at the time. Now that I do know, I regret my actions. I'm sorry that I helped make it impossible for two people of the same sex to show their love and commitment to each other in the form of marriage. While I can't go back and change the past I can make a difference in the future. What I have learned from all this is to keep an open mind about things. It's easy to pass judgment: the hard part is accepting. Thank you for taking time to read my story. Never before have I felt my words actually meant something to someone. It is truly an honor."
How many people that are about "saving marriage" don't understand love at all?
Are some of them jealous? Are some of them closeted and because they have to hide and be miserable then everyone else does to?
Look at Ted Haggard? Big closet case. Screaming and yelling, "gays this gays that." Then we find out he was gay. It must be Hell on earth to be born gay into a fundamental religious home. Every other hated minority at least has their mom and dad to hug them and tell them everything will be okay. These poor gays are thrown out of the house, called "disgusting" by their own flesh and blood. The first people they trust and love and respect completely turn on them. And this is "family values?" No other minority will ever go through that. The amount of suicides attempts for gay teens is 5 times that of straights. At some point all this hocus pocus must be seen through and reality has to sink in. It is your own child for crying out loud.
Now put yourself in this gay woman's shoes. She is 40. She knew she was gay at age 14. So she has extensive experience having been surrounded by gays for about 26 years. She knows and is friendly with over 100 gay Americans. You can't tell any one of them is gay by looking at them. Well maybe a few....All have decent respectable jobs. On the whole, out of the 100 gays compared to 100 straights there is around the same percentage of rude, inconsiderate, "what do I get out of it?" types. The same percentage of the "you decide I'll do what ever" types. The same percentage of "can I borrow that?" and never return it types. And the same percentage of wonderful, giving, selfless, "can I pick you anything up while I'm there?" types. Has nothing to do with being gay. Gays come in all shapes and sizes. Some good, some bad. Just like straights.
Some of her gay friends are big type-A CEO's that travel all the time, one is a pharmacist, one is a physical therapist, one is a mortgage broker, one manages a building in downtown LA, one is a waiter, 2 vet's, many in sales, the list goes on and on. On the whole we are all employed. We all pay taxes to keep the United States government running. Not one is a child molester.
Sorry James, But not once has anyone of us talked of a "Master Plan to Destroy America." We don't want any special rights. We don't want to overturn laws prohibiting pedophilia.
Gay couples getting equal rights will not "destroy" the institution of marriage. We are not full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. We are not gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; we do not invent ways of doing evil; we are not senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. We are not filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.
There is no such thing as a "gay lifestyle." Gays do not want multiple marriage partners. When gays finally get the equal rights that we deserve, it should not be referred to as "an untested and unprecedented social experiment." The advent of legally sanctioned gay unions in Scandinavian countries has strengthened (not destroyed) the institution of marriage. The only state in America with legalized Gay marriage (Massachusetts) has also strengthened (not destroyed) heterosexual marriage (the lowest divorce rate in the country----Bible belt has the highest).
We do not want "group marriage", or "marriage between relatives", or "marriage between adults and children" or "marriage between a man and his donkey."
Every American pays into social security every American deserves to get the same amount out. Gays have gotten the short end of that deal since it was developed.
We deserve to serve openly in the military and our surviving spouses deserve the same benefits. We deserve our spouses pensions if they are offered to heterosexuals.
We should not have to pay the "gay tax" of $80,000 if we sell a house and make a profit of $500,000.
Celebrating our love openly and proudly for our spouses will not result in a "chaotic culture" that will be "devastating to children." What is devastating to children is learning to hate. Learning to shut out anything that is different. What is nourishing for children is witnessing 2 parents who love each other and who love them.
There is not one child of two gay parents that was not planned and wanted. How many heterosexuals can say that? There was a study that once estimated that 50% of the children of heterosexuals are unplanned. What percentage of them are resented? What percentagwe of them are unwanted. A Physchologist on the movie "The Secret" states that 85% of families are "dysfunctional." With all the statistics on child abuse, child molestations, child neglect by heterosexual married couples how can you make a generalization that all heterosexual parents are better than all gay parents. Scapegoating at it's worst!
Gays Americans wake up in the morning, hopefully next to someone we love and they love us back. We get up, we take a shower, we have breakfast. We sit in traffic, we go to work. We sit back in traffic, we come home, we eat dinner, then watch TV. We do it all over again for 5 days then we get two off. On those days we might go to the beach or the park. We might read a book or watch a football game. Maybe go out on Saturday night, dance off some steam, and then be lazy all day Sunday.
Now can someone please point out where in there do we need to be "tolerated?" Where in there did we bother any other citizen? Where in there were we plotting the "utter destruction of anyone's family?"
The collateral damage that comes from these lies is huge for gay Americans. Before the Bush administration, society was just on the verge of learning more about gays. The T.V. show "Ellen" was the first with a gay lead character. There did not seem to be all this "blaming the gays" for everything.
Karl Rove's Master Plan: The Utter Destruction of Gay Rights
Then Karl Rove came along and changed everything. Instead of going for the middle of the ground voters he was the first political strategist in the history of this nation to go for broke. To hell with the middle let's divide the country. Let's make it black and white. You are this way or that way. Coin the term "Values Voter". Make an enemy of gays which will get the far right religious base out in droves, paint Democrats as evil, get a few secretary of states to help out and a way we go. Hello!!! it is called "divide and conquer." While we have been exhausing ourselves with all of this infighting the top 1-2% of the wealthiest men in this country just got a whole lot wealthier. It's all they know. They are not happy. All they know is money and money is all they know. That is their God. We fell for it!!!!!!
How did they get the religious right out in droves? Letters like the one you just read from James Dobson. Here you are, a person that trusts James Dobson and most likely don't even know one gay person at all. The fact that his letter is full of lies and will continue hatred to a group that has done nothing wrong is of no consequence. It really wasn't considered. What mattered was that it could work. Stir up some anti-gay hatred mixed with scaring the Hell out of everyone with terror alert color coded charts and Bam! We got 8 years of Yabba "Dubya" Doooooooo. "Party of the caveman" churnen out the legislation to throw us back into the anti-gay, anti-woman, anti-minority dark ages that we had just managed to slowly emerge from.
Bush got reelected because of the anti-gay scam. In the short term it paid off big for the GOP, in the long run, it just might prove to ruin the party. If America accepts that it is okay to use some citizens for political gain then the cavemen will probably be okay.
However, if the country, like the gentleman who wrote to the Advocate, wakes up and actually understands how the Bush Administration, Karl Rove, and James Dobson were so calculating in their plan to use the prejudice and myths surrounding homosexuality in order to make political gains, it will be interesting to see if Americans consider it acceptable. Everyone knows that in politics you play dirty.
What we here at www.valueallfamilies.com pray for is that there is a line that should not be crossed. When a group of citizens is targeted by its own government, and incorrect stereotypes are purposely and systematically perpetuated resulting in actual violence and murders to this group, that line has been crossed.
http://www.valueallfamilies.com/ will connect all the dots and show how this is exactly what has occurred in the last 6 years resulting in an increase in hate crimes and violence to an innocent group of American citizens that does nothing to negatively affect society. Hate crimes have soared since "Dubya" took office. George, how do you sleep at night? Maybe some gay bashing is nothing considering you are also responsible for over 100,000 innocent civilains in Iraq being murdered.
Our constitution doesn't say "We the people, except for gays." Obviously "pursuit of happiness" includes legal recognition of who you fall in love with for heterosexuals, how is it not discrimination to purposely exclude gays?
These anti-gay hate groups are the most Un-American people in this country. These were the kind of people that our first settlers were trying to escape from. The founder of this website is a direct descendant of the first settlers of America in 1635. She takes being American very serious. She does not take it for granted.
Not a lot of people in this country can trace their roots to the people that settled it. So imagine her dismay when she be has to accept that the young men and women who arrive here daily from Iraq, Iran, China etc.... and become citizens today, are granted over 1000 more rights than her. It has nothing to do with "saving" marriage and everything to do with "bigotry", "politics", and "discrimination."
What we will expose is all the lies being recycled about gays.
Our founders came to this country to get away from oppression, "mob rule", and the tyranny of the majority. Oppressive, small minded, busy bodies, who can not "live and let live." They ignore true facts and science that disproves their prejudice views. They pick and choose from the Bible and are so miserable in their own lives that the only way to feel better is to scapegoat gays.
Scapegoating
Scapegoating is the "practice of blaming an individual or group for a real or perceived failure of others." The origin of the term comes from the Bible. Oh the irony...The high priest in Biblical times would place his hand upon a goat's head and transfer the sins of the community to the goat, which was then released into the desert.
It is not uncommon to blame others for our own mistakes, and especially to affix blame on those who are unable or unwilling to defend themselves against the charges. Minorities are often the targets of scapegoating. First, minorities are often isolated within society and are thus an easy target.
Those in the majority are more easily convinced about the negative characteristics of a minority with which they have no direct contact. Violence, persecution, and genocide directed against minorities often occur when a minority group is being blamed for some social ill. Unemployment, inflation, food shortages, the plague, and crime in the streets are all examples of ills which have been blamed on minority groups.
Stereotypes
A "stereotype" is a "generalization about a person or group of persons." We develop stereotypes when we are unable or unwilling to obtain all of the information we would need to make fair judgments about people or situations. In the absence of the "total picture," stereotypes in many cases allow us to "fill in the blanks." Our society often innocently or purposely creates and perpetuates stereotypes, but these stereotypes often lead to unfair discrimination and persecution when the stereotype is unfavorable.
Quite often, we have stereotypes about persons who are members of groups with which we have not had firsthand contact. Television, books, comic strips, and movies are all abundant sources of stereotyped characters. For much of its history, the movie industry portrayed African-Americans as being unintelligent, lazy, or violence-prone. As a result of viewing these stereotyped pictures of African-Americans, for example, prejudice against African-Americans has been encouraged. In the same way, physically attractive women have been and continue to be portrayed as unintelligent or unintellectual and sexually promiscuous. Stereotypes also evolve out of fear of persons from minority groups. These anti-gay groups have given gays a common "lifestyle." They actually claim that there is a "gay lifestyle." It is ludicrous.
Discrimination
When we judge people and groups based on our "prejudices" and "stereotypes" and treat them differently, we are engaging in "discrimination." This discrimination can take many forms. We may create subtle or overt pressures which will discourage persons of certain minority groups from living in a neighborhood. Women and minorities have been victimized by discrimination in employment, education, and social services. We may shy away from people that are different because we are afraid they may harm us. Women and minorities are often excluded from high echelon positions in the business world. Many clubs have restrictive membership policies which do not permit Jews, African-Americans, women, and others to join.
In some cases, the civil and criminal justice system has not been applied equally to all as a result of discrimination. Some studies indicate that African-Americans convicted of first degree murder have a significantly higher probability of receiving a death penalty than whites convicted of first degree murder, for example. When political boundaries have been drawn, a process known as "gerrymandering" has often been used to provide that minorities and other groups are not represented in proportion to their population in city councils, state legislatures, and the U.S. Congress.
This administration had the nerve to push a discrimination amendment to our sacred federal constitution for the sole purpose of political gain. With the Yabba "Dubya" Doooooo Bush Administration we have turned 180 degrees away from what this country stands for. Our founders would be horrified.
Positive Responses to Prejudice and Stereotypes
Understanding the nature of prejudice, scapegoating, stereotypes, and discrimination is the first step in combating these practices. All of us have prejudices about members of groups different from ourselves. We should, however, recognize that we are not acting fairly if we treat people differently because of these stereotypes and prejudices.
Each one of us deserves to be considered a "unique human being".
In his 1963, "I Have a Dream" speech at the Lincoln Memorial, civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." Dr. King devoted his life to fighting bigotry and prejudice. His message was meant not only for African-Americans but for all oppressed minorities. In taking a courageous stand against racial hatred, Dr. King was subjected to personal injustices which culminated in his murder at the hands of a racist assassin. Yet his message of brotherhood, of understanding, of intergroup dialog, of coalition-building, of non-violent resistance to injustice, has endured.
All of us face peer pressure when confronted with a joke which puts down a certain minority. It takes courage to raise objections to these jokes and pejorative names and to actively fight the prejudice and bigotry which they foster. It is important to stand up against injustice, and fight the discrimination, stereotypes, and scapegoating which have served as the precursors to persecution, violence, and genocide.
Just recently 3/07 "Faggot" became the "F-word." We are progressing. (Even though people like Ann Coulter will fight it tooth and nail.)

************************************************************************************
www.valueallfamilies wants all politicians to sit up and take notice. We are going to expose all the anti-gay comments and ignorance that spews from legislators that are prejudiced against gays with their contact information and pictures for all to see. The anti-gay parade is finally over and in 2007 the tide will change for gay Americans.
Politicians have got to be noticing that the typical attitude concerning equal rights for gay Americans is at the 50% mark. Every day more and more gays live "out" of hiding and more and more people know someone who happens to be gay. This serves to break down the false stereotypes that have perpetuated since the beginning of time. Gays have all the momentum and it is because gays have the truth.
All the bogus studies won't matter. All the "pro-family" lies about gays won't matter. What people trust most is what they see right in front of them. If the "Party of the Caveman" does not realize this fast and work to respect gay Americans as the wonderful and needed contributors to society that they are, then it will come back to haunt them for years to come.
We here at www.valueallfamilies.com will be watching every vote. We will display every hateful, ignorant comment. We will make it real easy come election time who really stands for "American Values" like honesty, fairness, and equal rights for every citizen.
We will also make it very easy to see who still lives in the "dark ages" and uses their own prejudice to deny basic civil rights issues for their fellow American citizens. It is time for the "Party of the Caveman" to evolve. George Flintstone, Barney "Rubblecan" and Yabba "Dubya" Doooooo have played the "anti-gay card" for way to long. We are tired of it and have found a way to expose the injustices that we face every day.
It is an embarrassment to America that a country as great as ours would even consider letting one group of citizens vote on another group of citizen's rights. These constitutional amendments should never have been an option. We should never have been able to vote on our fellow citizen's civil rights. The problem arises however, when you have a spoiled brat for a president who could care less about civil rights and owes something to a bigoted gay-hating evangelical leader for getting him elected.
When the staying power of one political party depends on fanning the flames of ignorance and hate at the expense of their fellow citizens why would we expect the right thing to be done?
The days of using gays as political pawns are over.
What is truly tragic is all the innocent gay Americans that got caught in the middle? How many families kicked their gay child of the house abandoning their own flesh and blood for something that is as natural as the color of their eyes. How many gay Americans killed themselves because they grew up in a fundamental Christian home and believed all the lies that they could change if they prayed hard enough? When their "natural" gay orientation did not go away, they feel like failures and kill themselves in despair. Gay Teenagers are 5X more likely to try suicide. This is not a laughing matter people. Kids are dying.
How many gay men and woman ended up in the hospital because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time and were beaten bloody by a stranger filled with irrational rage all based on lies? About 1200 a year in this country and thanks to "Dubya" that number is rising.
We hope to make this site different. It is coming from the heart. It is coming from fellow American citizens that are asking you to play fair. Do not use citizens to get elected. Do not push amendments to constitutions that only discriminate against minorities. This country needs to be united once again. We need change in leadership. We need to progress not regress. America is the greatest nation on earth for a reason. We stand for equality. We stand for freedom. Now is not the time to change our "real" values.
Enjoy the site.
Sincerely,
The staff of www.valueallfamilies.com
