 Interesting Quotes

Intelligent minds vs "conservative cavemen". Here are some great quotes comparing how the "conservative Republican caveman" thinks compared to the worlds greatest minds throughout the ages of time.

*************************************************************On Civil Rights

Great Historical Figures:

"All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression." Thomas Jefferson

"Separate but equal" is NEVER equal.
~ Brown vs. Board of Ed.

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Martin Luther King Jr., Letter from Birmingham Jail, April 16, 1963

"He that would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself." Thomas Paine Founder of America

"It behooves every man who values liberty of conscience for himself, to resist invasions of it in the caseof others." Thomas Jefferson 1803 Founder of America, author of Declaration of Independence.

"I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man." Thomas Jefferson 3rd president of US (1743 - 1826) Founder of America, author of Declaration of Independence.

"As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality." George Washington, First president of US (1732 - 1799).

"I know the question comes up, why are we offering hate-crimes legislation on a defense authorization bill? Well, the answer is very simple: The defense authorization bill is dealing with the challenges of terrorism. And the hate crimes issue, to try and get a handle on the problems of hate crimes, we're talking about domestic terrorism, domestic terrorism." Sen. Edward Kennedy 2007

*********************************************************************************************************************************************

Now let's hear the flip side in their words, the brilliance that comes out of the Republican Conservative Caveman:

1.  Family Research Council: (group run by James Dobson of Focus on the Family. James is on Karl Rove's speed dial. Karl Rove is the snake who got an idiot elected president twice.)

"Join us in opposing legislation that forces employers to consider sexual orientation when making firing, hiring, promotion, and compensation decisions." Tony Perkins, Family Research Council. 9/28/2007 in an email to members

Robert Knight, head of the Cultural Studies department at the Family Research Council. "Hate crime" legislation does indeed target thoughts and speech, he says, and if passed would provide "special protected status" for gay Amricans. He notes that there are already laws on the books against violent actions against persons -- including gay Americans -- but that "hate crimes" legislation provides penalty enhancements against the perpetrator's thoughts and beliefs. "The only thing that hate crime laws target are thoughts," says Knight. "It's really an attack on free speech." Memo to Mr. Knight: God is love, God is love, God is love

"Whoever, therefore, thinks that he understands the divine Scriptures or any part of them so that it does not build the double love of God and of our neighbor does not understand it at all." (Christian Doctrine 1.35.40)41 Let us be true to the double love of God and neighbor, for that is what we are called to do for the sake of the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." Augustine

2.  American Family Association:

Stephen M. Crampton, chief counsel for the American Family Association's Center for Law & Policy, is concerned about the far-reaching implications of "hate crime" laws. "First of all," says Crampton, "the focus in criminal law has always been actions -- the taking of an innocent human life. Premeditation is considered as an evidentiary matter -- it distinguishes, for example, between murder and manslaughter." He notes that "hate crime" laws go a step further. "Hate crime laws actually delve one step deeper into a suspect's mind: They criminalize what a person thinks about a gay person in the commission of beating them. While hatred for anyone may be abhorrent, it is not illegal." How special....Memo to Mr. Crampton: God is love, God is love, God is love

3.  Concerned Women for America:

Robert H. Knight is Director of the Culture and Family Institute, an affiliate of Concerned Women for America. Kenneth L. Ervin, II assisted with the original article on which this is based.

"Hate crime" laws pose a danger to civil liberties in three ways:

They pave the way for suppression of the freedoms of speech, association and religion.

They violate the concept of equal protection under the law.

They introduce the un-American concept of "thought crime," in which someone's actions are "more" illegal based on their thoughts or beliefs.

"There is no evidence that victims of "hate crimes" are receiving any less protection than victims of other crimes. To suggest otherwise insults the men and women of the nation's law enforcement community." Robert Knight Concerned Women of America

(Did you notice Robert Knight was also involved with Family Research Council? The group run by James Dobson. The guy on Karl Rove's speed dial? Are you connecting the dots yet? Create an enemy within the country for people to vote against. Divide and Conquer. The oldest trick in the book.)

Sorry Robert, but you are completely wrong:

3/20/07 While riding though Mississippi the gay members of the non-violent busride by the group http://www.soulforce.org/ were harassed by the not only civilians but also the POLICE......

On March 20, the Clinton Police Department informed Soulforce that its members would be cited if they "attempt to gather or travel in a group of four or more" near the campus of Mississippi College.

http://www.hrc.org/Template.cfm?Section=Security&CONTENTID=36000&SECTION=Content_Management&TEMPLATE=/ContentManagement/ContentDisplay.cfm

Maybe the Clinton police should reread the United States Constitution:

Freedom of assembly is the freedom to associate with, or organize any groups, gatherings, clubs, or organizations that one wishes. It is held to be a key right in liberal democracies, whereby citizens may form or join any political party, special interest group, or union without government restrictions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_assembly

Doesn't quite say anything about the group being limited to 3 people does it? See what George Bush has created? Even the police now think they can make up the laws. When you demonize a group. When you say the group will "undermine" the heterosexuals this is what you get......Thanks "Dubya, Thanks Rove.....This is the result of your "wedge issue" politics.

While trying to deal with all the challenges of being a teenager, gay teens additionally have to deal with harassment, threats, and violence directed at them on a daily basis. They hear anti-gay slurs such as "homo", "faggot" and "sissy" about 26 times a day or once every 14 minutes. Even more troubling, a study found that thirty-one percent of gay youth had been threatened or injured at school in the year 2006.

"Gays don't need workplace protections as long as they keep their sex lives in the closet." Nebraska Caveman Senator Tom Carlson (R-Holdrege).

"Nebraska Equal employment protections gives special rights to gay Americans and it could lead to protections for to pedophiles and transvestites." Sen. Tony Fulton (R-Lincoln).

This is a Senator.....Where on Earth does being gay lead to sexually abusing children? The ignorance is unbelievable.

FACT: 93% of all sexual abuse of children is at the hands of a heterosexual male family member in a religious home. Maybe we should take workplace protections away from all heterosexual religious males.....

On Judgment

Great Historical Figures:

"Be not too hasty either with praise or blame; speak always as though you were giving evidence before the judgment-seat of the Gods." Seneca, Roman dramatist, philosopher, & politician (5 BC - 65 AD)

"Prejudice is opinion without judgment." Voltaire French author, humanist, rationalist, & satirist (1694 - 1778)

Conservative Republican Caveman:

"For more than 40 years, the gay rights movement has sought to implement a master plan that has had as its centerpiece the utter destruction of the family." James Dobson of Focus on the Family

"It appears likely now that the demise of families will accelerate this type of decline dramatically, resulting in a chaotic culture that will be devastating to children." James Dobson of Focus on the Family

"An even greater objective of the gay rights movement is to end the state's compelling interest in marital relationships altogether. After marriages have been redefined, divorces will be obtained instantly, will not involve a court, and will take on the status of a driver's license or a hunting permit. With the family out of the way, all rights and privileges of marriage will accrue to gay and lesbian partners without the legal entanglements and commitments heretofore associated with it." James Dobson of Focus on the Family

"This apocalyptic and pessimistic view of the institution of the family and its future will sound alarmist to many, but I think it will prove accurate unless--unless--God's people awaken and begin an even greater vigil of prayer for our nation." James Dobson of Focus on the Family

"Despite the danger that confronts us, I am hopeful that the death of the family can be averted. Most Americans still believe in the Judeo-Christian system of values, and millions of them are people of faith who are calling on the Lord for a miracle on behalf of our nation. That is the source of our confidence at such a perilous time.", James Dobson of Focus on the Family. James Dobson of Focus on the Family

On Prejudice

Great Historical Figures:

"Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are even incapable of forming such opinions." Albert Einstein US (German-born) physicist (1879 - 1955)

"A great many people think they are thinking when they are really rearranging their prejudices." Edward R. Murrow US broadcast journalist & newscaster (1908 - 1965)

"Never try to reason the prejudice out of a man. It was not reasoned into him, and cannot be reasoned out." Sydney Smith English essayist (1771 - 1845)

"Prejudice is opinion without judgment." Voltaire French author, humanist, rationalist, & satirist (1694 - 1778)

"There is nothing respecting which a man may be so long unconscious as of the extent and strength of his prejudices." Francis Jeffery Scottish critic & jurist (1773 - 1850)

"When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bustling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity." Dale Carnegie

"Prejudice is the conjurer of imaginary wrongs, strangling truth, overpowering reason, making strong men weak and weak men weaker. God give us the large hearted charity which "bearth all things, believe all things, hope all things, endure all things," which "thinks no evil." Macduff

"The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices -- to be found in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own -- for the children and the children yet unborn. And the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone." Rod Serling US actor, producer, & screenwriter (1924 - 1975)

Conservative Caveman:

"Nappy Headed Hos" MSNBC'S and CBS Radio's Conservative Republican Caveman: Don Imus (when referring to the African American Basketball Players on Rutgers basketball team. ) http://www.scarletknights.com/basketball-women/news/release.asp?prID=5202

"The NCAA and Rutgers University are offended by the insults on MSNBC's Don Imus program toward the 10 young women on the Rutgers basketball team. It is unconscionable that anyone would use the airways to utter such disregard for the dignity of human beings who have accomplished much and deserve great credit."

"Intermarriage between whites and blacks is repulsive and averse to every sentiment of pure American spirit. It is abhorrent and repugnant. It is subversive to social peace. It is destructive of moral supremacy, and ultimately this slavery to black beasts will bring this nation to a fatal conflict". Conservative Republican Representative Roddenberry 1911

"How about group marriage, or marriage between relatives, or marriage between adults and children? How about marriage between man and his donkey? Anything allegedly linked to "civil rights" will be doable. The legal underpinnings for marriage will have been destroyed." Conservative Caveman, James Dobson of Focus on the Family

"There can be little doubt that the U.S. Supreme Court will soon "find" a provision in the Constitution that guarantees homosexual marriage. If the people accept that decision passively, the issue will never be in question again. The institution of the family will have been destroyed." Conservative caveman, James Dobson of Focus on the Family

"Hillary Clinton is "a Zamboni, a carpet bagging, closet lesbo who's perhaps the next president. That is, unless the jug head mulatto with the Jew-hating name (Barack Obama http://www.barackobama.com/) and virtually no experience overtakes her." Don Imus

The "Jug head mulatto with a Jew-hating name" Nice, Imus, nice. Barack Obama is 180 degree turn around from the caveman thinking of you and this entire bandit, thieving, lying, self-serving Bush administration that has done nothing except endanger our country from a environmental, political, social, economical, and safety standpoint. Barack Obama would make an incredible president.

Watch him people. Hear him speak. Go to his website: http://www.barackobama.com/ This man is what the "smart" America needs.

The "dumb" America can have Imus, Ann Coulture, George Bush, Cheney, Guliani, Huckabee, McCain, Romney, and all the other political leaders that refuse to embrace the centerpiece of what America stands for....Equality and pursuit of happiness for every citizen.

Quotes about Ignorance:

Great Historical Figures:

"Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." Martin Luther King Jr, Strength to Love, 1963

"To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead." Thomas Paine

"A nation or civilization that continues to produce soft-minded men purchases its own spiritual death on an installment plan." Martin Luther King Jr.

Conservative Caveman: (Ignorance is not bliss....)

"Moral Values, Family Values, Values voters.....Our party is more moral than yours." Religious right

"Gay men regularly swallow the semen and ingest the feces and urine of their partners. The median age of death for homosexuals with AIDS is 39 and homosexuals without AIDS is 42. For lesbians it is 44." Paul Cameron (disgraced researcher kicked out of American Psychological Association for invalid research methods. Many of our current legislators quote his quack results when voting on gay rights.)

"The median age of death for homosexuals with AIDS is 39 and homosexuals without AIDS is 42. For lesbians it is 44. Lately, there is a lot of talk about homosexual marriages, etc. From a health standpoint, the homosexual and lesbian behavior is not a healthy "lifestyle" and can even result in early death. Our society worries about people wearing seat belts, losing weight, smoking, taking drugs and abusing alcohol. Where is our consistency?" United States Representative Jim Welker, R-Loveland. 2006 (this is an United States Representative.....Mind Boggling...)

"We have evidence that homosexuals can not maintain a stable relationship, and that gay couples often sought young men to adopt for, apparently, "unfretted access to subject them to a life of molestation and sexual abuse." "Homosexual couples prey on young males." "Some of the evidence we were presented showed that lesbian and gay couples have a higher rate of breaking up than heterosexual coupes as well as higher rates of promiscuity outside of their relationships." Representative Debra Maggart Tennessee stated in 2006 Her "evidence" was from Paul Cameron and Focus on the Family. (The KKK for gays...)

"Some homosexual activists defend the historic connection between homosexuality and pedophilia." "Homosexuals only comprise between 1 to 3 percent of the population." "Homosexuals are overrepresented in child sex offenses" "Pedophile themes abound in homosexual literary culture" Tony Perkins of Family Research Counsel (Subset of Focus on the Family) http://www.frc.org/file.cfm?f=SEARCH_RESULTS&text_search=homosexuality&x=13&y=10&row=11

"Homosexual relationships almost never possess the mature elements of quiet consistency, trust, mutual dependency, and sexual fidelity characteristic of highly functioning heterosexual marriages." Joseph Nicolosi of Narth http://www.narth.com/docs/whyreveal.html

"We shall sodomize your sons, We shall seduce them in your schools, in your dormitories, in your gymnasiums, in your locker rooms, in your youth groups, Your sons shall become our minions and do our bidding. They will come to crave and adore us. All laws banning homosexual activity will be revoked. Instead, legislation shall be passed which engenders love between men. Our writers and artists will make love between men fashionable.. We shall raise vast, private armies.to defeat you. The family unit..will be abolished. Perfect boys will be conceived and grown in the genetic laboratory..All churches who condemn us will be closed. Our only gods are handsome young men. All males who insist on remaining stupidly heterosexual will be tried in homosexual courts of justice and will become invisible men. Tremble, hetero swine, when we appear before you without our masks." Peter LaBarbera Americans for Truth says this is what gays want...

(Peter is basing all this fear of the homosexual "bogeyman" on a novel "The homosexual agenda" written by Michael Swift in 1987. Swift was angry and wrote a "satire" (definition of satire: not true) about the ridiculous accusations that were always being made about gays.)

"Gays are genetic mistake," Dr. Laura

"Finding homosexuality repulsive is a natural human instinct," Robert Knight Concerned women for America

"To the gays and lesbians, I point the finger in their face and say: you helped this happen." Jerry Falwell (Blaming Gay Americans for 911.)

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians." -- Pat Robertson

(talking about Planned Parenthood) "It is teaching kids to fornicate, teaching people to have adultery, every kind of bestiality, homosexuality, lesbianism"--Pat Robertson

"Many of those people involved with Adolph Hitler were Satanists, many of them were homosexuals--the two things seem to go together."--Pat Robertson

"Gays and lesbians are "self-absorbed narcissists" responsible for no-fault divorce and abortion." Pat Robertson

"The practices of those people (gays) is appalling. It is a pathology" - Pat Robertson

"Homosexuals want to come into churches and disrupt church service and throw blood around and try to give people aids and spit in the face of ministries" Pat Robertson

Throw blood around? Has Pat had a "check up" recently?

"Because marriage is a sacred institution and the foundation of society, it should not be re-defined by activist judges. For the good of families, children and society, I support a constitutional amendment to protect the institution of marriage."-- President George W. Bush, State of the Union address, Feb. 3, 2005

The ignorance is so thick you could cut it with a knife.......

On Politics

Great Historical Figures:

"The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others." Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia, 1781-82 3rd president of US (1743 - 1826)

"It is the duty of every patriot to protect his country from its government." Thomas Paine US patriot & political philosopher (1737 - 1809)

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." [ Theodore Roosevelt ]

"There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty." 1772 John Adams, US diplomat & politician (1735 - 1826)

"We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt." Thomas Jefferson (Wonder what Tom would say about $30,000 per citizen?)

"The proposition that the people are the best keepers of their own liberties is not true. They are the worst conceivable, they are no keepers at all; they can neither judge, act, think, or will, as a political body." John Adams, US diplomat & politician (1735 - 1826

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." [ Benjamin Franklin ]

Conservative Caveman:

"Christian values should dominate our government... Politicians who do not use the Bible to guide their public and private lives do not belong in office." - Beverly LaHaye, Concerned Women for America

*************************************************************

On using the Constitution

Great Historical Figures:

"But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever." John Adams US diplomat & politician (1735 - 1826)

"Some men look at constitutions with sanctimonious reverence, and deem them like the ark of the covenant, too sacred to be touched." Thomas Jefferson, Resolutions, 1803 3rd president of US (1743-1826)

Conservative Caveman:

"It's just a goddamned piece of paper!" George Walker Bush

GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the Patriot Act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

"I don't give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."

"Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."

"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"

President Bush has proposed seven amendments to the Constitution over the last five years - a record for any modern President, including a controversial amendment to define marriage as a "union between a man and woman."

Using the word "Undermine"

Great Historical Figures:

"Because religious belief, or non-belief, is such an important part of every person's life, freedom of religion affects every individual. State churches that use government power to support themselves and force their views on persons of other faiths undermine all our civil rights. Moreover, state support of the church tends to make the clergy unresponsive to the people and leads to corruption within religion. Erecting the "wall of separation between church and state," therefore, is absolutely essential in a free society." Thomas Jefferson Founder of United States 3rd President (1743-1826)

Conservative Caveman

"The union of a man and woman in marriage is the most enduring and important human institution," Bush said before the Senate vote. "Our policies should aim to strengthen families, not undermine them. And changing the definition of marriage would undermine the family structure." George "Dubya" (What message does that send?)

Recent scandals:

"Alberto Gonzales is undermining the Department of Justice and the morale of its employees." Republican Senator: Arlen Specter Pennsylvania http://news.yahoo.com/s/bloomberg/20070422/pl_bloomberg/aybspxkcdrfq_1

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070422/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/gonzales_prosecutors

When Dubya was told,"There is a valid case that the provisions in the patriot act undermine the Constitution."

This was his response: "Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"

*************************************************************

On Religion

Great Historical Figures:

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find anything that agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it." -Siddhartha Gautama (The Buddha), 563-483 B.C.

"The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has so soaked the soil of Europe in blood for centuries." James Madison, Founding Father 4th president of United States.

"Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear." Thomas Jefferson

"All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian, or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit." Thomas Paine Founding Founder of America

"Say nothing of my religion. It is known to God and myself alone. Its evidence before the world is to be sought in my life: if it has been honest and dutiful to society the religion which has regulated it cannot be a bad one." Thomas Jefferson Founder of America

"I never told my religion nor scrutinize that of another. I never attempted to make a convert nor wished to change another's creed. I have judged of others' religion by their lives, for it is from our lives and not from our words that our religion must be read. By the same test must the world judge me." Thomas Jefferson

Conservative Caveman:

"Christian values should dominate our government... Politicians who do not use the Bible to guide their public and private lives do not belong in office." - Beverly LaHaye, Concerned Women for America

On Wednesday, March 1st, 2006, in Annapolis at a hearing on the proposed Constitutional Amendment to prohibit gay marriage, Jamie Raskin, professor of law at AU, was requested to testify. At the end of his testimony, Republican Senator Nancy Jacobs said: "Mr. Raskin, my Bible says marriage is only between a man and a woman. What do you have to say about that?"

Raskin replied: "Senator, when you took your oath of office, you placed your hand on the Bible and swore to uphold the Constitution. You did not place your hand on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible." The room erupted into applause. (Bam Bam Bam Bamm)

On Conservatives

Great Historical Figures:

"A conservative is a man who believes that nothing should be done for the first time." Alfred E. Wiggam

"A conservative government is an organized hypocrisy." Benjamin Disraeli, Speech in the House of Commons, Mar. 3, 1845 British politician (1804 - 1881)

"A conservative is a man with two perfectly good legs who, however, has never learned to walk forward." Franklin D. Roosevelt, radio address, Oct. 26, 1939
32nd president of US (1882 - 1945)

"The radical of one century is the conservative of the next. The radical invents the views. When he has worn them out the conservative adopts them." Mark Twain, Notebook, 1935 US humorist, novelist, short story author, & wit (1835 - 1910)

"It only takes 20 years for a liberal to become a conservative without changing a single idea." Robert Anton Wilson

"When you are right you cannot be too radical; when you are wrong you cannot be too conservative." Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968)

"A conservative is a man who sits and thinks, mostly sits." Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924)

On Silence

Great Historical Figures:

"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." Martin Luther King Jr.

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." Martin Luther King Jr.

"All that is required for evil to succeed is for good people to do nothing." Martin Luther King Jr.

Words of Inspiration

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." Martin Luther King Jr., Strength to Love, 1963

"Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air." John Quincy Adams, US diplomat & politician (1767 - 1848)

"Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." Albert Einstein US (German-born) physicist (1879 - 1955)

"Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings." Patrick Henry, Founding Father USA March 23, 1775

"I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. That is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant." Martin Luther King Jr., Accepting Nobel Peace Prize, Dec. 10, 1964

"The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value. I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death." Thomas Paine US patriot & political philosopher (1737 - 1809)

"I fear not, I see not reason for fear. In the end we will be the victors. For though at times the flame of liberty may cease to shine, the ember will never expire."Thomas Paine US patriot & political philosopher (1737 - 1809)

"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence." John Adams 'Argument in Defense of the Soldiers in the Boston Massacre Trials,' December 1770
US diplomat & politician (1735 - 1826)

Conservative Caveman:

"Facts are stupid things." Republican president, Ronald Reagan '88, a slight misquote of John Adams, "Facts are stubborn things....."

Getting along

Great Historical Figures:

"It is never to late to give up our prejudices." Henry David Thoreau 'Economy,' Walden, 1854 US Transcendentalist author (1817 - 1862

"The greatest and noblest pleasure which men can have in this world is to discover new truths; and the next is to shake off old prejudices." Frederick the Great king of Prussia 1740-1786 (1712 - 1786)

"If our house be on fire, without inquiring whether it was fired from within or without, we must try to extinguish it." Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Lewis, Jr., May 9, 1798 3rd president of US (1743 - 1826)

"We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools." Martin Luther King Jr

"If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships - the ability of all peoples, of all kinds, to live together, in the same world at peace." Franklin D. Roosevelt

"United We Stand Divided We Will Fall"

Conservative Caveman:

"The rhetoric surrounding the acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle is everywhere. Parents have children suddenly "coming out." Organizations are accused of "intolerance." And it seems that everyone agrees it's OK to be gay. In "101 Frequently Asked Questions About Homosexuality," Focus on the Family's Mike Haley explains how to address the issues surrounding same-sex attraction and its implications for society.

"The blacks never marched for the homosexuals. The blacks ain't marched for no homosexuals." Found on James Dobson's Website in Citizenlink around 1/7/06

"John Edwards is a Faggot." Ann Coulture (bitter conservative columist who for many years has made a killing financially bashing gay people. Would feel right at home under a KKK hood.....)

My two cents....

It is time to stop the politics of division. It is time to stop with "W"edge issues. This country is the greatest in the world. It is great because we do not discriminate. This last wall of injustice needs to come down.
