Most of the time, people are not hateful towards gays, but they are clueless nontheless.
These are things that gay people have to deal with all the time.......
1. Stereotypes, stereotypes, stereotypes....... Quotes that have been said to me or someone I know that is gay.....
"You can't be gay because........
"You drive a minivan....." "You don't have one of those stickers on your car....." "You are to cute/pretty...." "But you are a professional ballplayer..."
2. Other ridiculus things that gay people hear all the time......
"Such a waste." "You just haven't found the right man/woman." "Girl on girl and it doesn't involve me?" Which one is the man/woman?"
Please people, go back and read Gay 101 in the introduction of this website http://www.valueallfamilies.com/gay_101
Imagine any of these things being said about people with blue eyes or that are left handed.....
"oh he hasn't practiced hard enough writing with his right hand..." or "Oh she hasn't wished hard enough for her eyes to turn brown." "Those left handed people are going to destroy America...." "Those Blue eyed people only drive BMWs....."
Are you starting to see how insane it all sounds to us? Trust me, you all know more than one gay person....Think about all your friends and coworkers......Anyone over 30 that has never been married? I'm not saying that every single person over 30 is gay....But it's a good place to start guessing......
In the religious right circles you can include the married ones...They are to terrified to be true to themselves.....Think about that person....Are they going to destroy America? Do you think you should be able to legally discriminate against them?
If the answer is no then you can not in good conscience vote for the state amendments that keep marriage between a man and a woman. Not the way that they are currently written. What you vote for is discrimination against your fellow American. You discriminate against that person that you know or work with that happens to be gay. They may not be "out" to you but you still discriminated against them.

"As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality." George Washington, First president of US (1732 - 1799)
"It behooves every man who values liberty of conscience for himself, to resist invasions of it in the case of others." --- Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Dr. Benjamin Rush, 1803
"Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are even incapable of forming such opinions." Albert Einstein US (German-born) physicist (1879 - 1955)
"A great many people think they are thinking when they are really rearranging their prejudices." Edward R. Murrow US broadcast journalist & newscaster (1908 - 1965)
"The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others." Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia, 1781-82 3rd president of US (1743 - 1826)
"An honest man can feel no pleasure in the exercise of power over his fellow citizens." Thomas Jefferson
What about all that America? Why are we 180 degrees away from our roots in the year 2007? These amendments are callous sneaky ways for dishonest politicians to get easy votes.....
Wake up people.....They are driving this country right into the ground. If you vote for these amendments you are falling for the biggest scam in ages. America does not stand for discrimination in ANY form.....
Please read this whole website. Educate yourselves, pass the site on. Ignorance is not bliss, people. It is good that most people are not hateful to gays. But it is not good that so many are still clueless......
